Panda Camera at the National Zoo

There are three Giant Pandas and two web cams to watch at the National Zoo. Tian Tian, Mei Xiang and Tai Shan will entertain you with their never ending appetite for bamboo, playfulness and tree climbing just to name a few.

Tian Tian (t-YEN t-YEN), the male, was born on August 27, 1997. He has black “knee socks.” The black band across his shoulders narrows in the middle. And he has two black dots across the bridge of his nose.

Mei Xiang (may-SHONG), the female, was born on July 22, 1998. Her name means “beautiful fragrance.” In September 2005, she weighed about 235 pounds.

And the baby of the bunch is Tai Shan (tie-SHON) who was born early in the morning on July 9, 2005. He is Mei Xiang and Tian Tian’s first offspring.

      Awesome site!

I haven’t seen the pandas now for sometime. The zoo in DC is among my favorite spots in the area, especially the invertebrate house.

I’ll keep you linked. Thanks for the feeds.

      Just a correction to pronunciation…

Mei Xiang (may-SHONG) is more like may-SHEEAHNG

Tai Shan (tie-SHON) is more like tie-shahn

(overall, less O-ish and more AH-ish).

That’s all! (I watch the panda cames religiously)
