Does anyone know what’s wrong with the little ones wings? He/she can’t seem to keep them folded against the body! I’m really worried…I want to hold them up for him! :-(

    4. Marcia Says:

From forums on other sites, the eaglets hold them away from his body for air circulation when it’s hot ( as this nest is) Also, pin feathers come in filled with blood which is dissipated as they grow in. Feathers eventually are hollow but when coming in are very heavy. They have to keep adjusting them. ( Kind of like hiking up your sususpenders! LOL )

What’s going on? I looked at the cam earlier and the eagle was in it, but now there’s a guy sitting in the nest and the eagle is gone - did it fly away, or what? And why is the guy up there with his helmut in the nest?

the santa cruz eaglet has it made, it is easy to watch one eaglet than two, watching two you see agression from the older sibling eaglet, the younger small one has to fight to survive, the santa cruz eaglet is fed and taken care of no sibling to push them around he or she gets all the food she wants has quiet time with her mother, mother is near by, food is steady all time mother beak feeds her still from time to time.. as the sannich eaglets it;s a do or die thing now whoever get the food eats.. little feed given this week. a new lesson. for them to learn. i will miss the santa cruz eaglet when she or he is gone. i m sure he will survive the cold winter.
